Meet the Team

Developers in the Space Coders program are vetted and approved by Expanding Frontiers. They are available for project-based work or to provide longer-term ongoing support, depending on the available opportunities.

Paulina Varela

I graduated from UTRGV with a Bachelors in Computer Science with a specialization in Machine Learning. During my time at the university, I was a part of student research group called ARCC. The group was comprised mainly of Physics students. The group helped me become a better programmer, as well taught me various skills and method when performing data analysis. After I graduated with my degree, I interned for Ethan Group, a network and security company based in Australia. During my time there, I configured routers and developed programs to help automatize notifications of the network’s status. I joined Space Coders to expose myself to other programmers as well as other exciting projects in hopes of expanding my portfolio as well as my network. I have been apart of three space coders projects, and every single one has been an exciting challenge with motivated team members that all work together to produce our best effort.

Andrew Danford

I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. During my undergraduate career, I had a range of internships including a Data management internship at NASA Johnson Space Center. I also had a Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) working with wearable sensors for eye tracking, and another one working with flexible printed antenna testing and design. My undergraduate research included data analysis projects for the low-frequency all-sky monitor (LoFASM) with the Arecibo Remote Command Center (ARCC). Currently, I work as a programmer in logistics at a shipping company and was previously a team leader for the Peak Detection Space Coders Challenge.
